Teaching at the BIOTEC

Master's Programs

The application round for the winter term 2014/15 is now closed. Applications for the winter term 2015/16 will be possible from February 2015 onwards.

The Biotechnology Center hosts three international Master's programs in English: 

The programs Molecular Bioengineering and Nanobiophysics have been successfully (re)accredited in September 2010 by the national accreditation agency ACQUIN: Molecular Bioengineering until 2017, Nanobiophysics until 2015.

In joint association with the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven/Belgium, the BIOTEC also offers a joint-degree program in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in the framework of the Erasmus Mundus initiative by the European commission.

iGEM competition

The International Genetically Engineered Machine competition (iGEM)  is the premiere undergraduate Synthetic Biology competition.  iGEM began in January of 2003 with a month-long course at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. More information.

For the second time
, some of our Master Students joined together and participate as the "BIOTEC_Dresden iGEM Team" in the international student competition iGEM.

Master students from the BIOTEC participated for the first time in the iGEM competition in 2009. Their project of the nano Factory won the silver medal. Link to the 2009 project. 

Dresden International Graduate School for Biomedicine and Bioengineering (DIGS-BB) 

The Dresden International Graduate School for Biomedicine and Bioengineering (DIGS-BB) offers 3 International PhD Programs that provide outstanding opportunities for university graduates to work towards a PhD or MD/PhD with ambitious thesis projects.

Vocational Training: Laboratory Assistants

Since 2007, laboratory assistants have been receiving their on-the-job training in different research groups of the BIOTEC while doing the theoretical schooling at the vocational school in Radebeul. The vocational training takes 3.5 years. The next start for new apprentices will be September 2012.
